Find the tooth, hold the crown (top) part only while taking care not to touch the root, and rinse it gently in water. Reinsert the tooth into the socket and hold it in place with your finger or by biting on a towel or gauze. If you cannot reinsert the tooth, place the tooth in a clean container with milk (preferred) or water. Your child needs to be seen right away; this is a very time sensitive injury. Call Dr. Mann on the emergency number if it is after hours.
For bleeding, apply firm, gentle pressure with a clean cloth or gauze. Never reinsert a baby tooth. Call Dr. Mann if you have any questions.
If you can find the broken tooth fragment, it is helpful to bring it to the office. Contact Dr. Mann to determine the timing and need to be seen for treatment.

Clean the area of the affected tooth with a warm water rinse and gently floss to remove any impacted food. Do not put heat or aspirin on the aching tooth or gum. For temporary pain relief, a children’s dose of Tylenol or Motrin may be given. Contact Dr. Mann to be seen as soon as possible.
